Hydrogen Future · Technology Rooting

JPE Yean Hern was invited by MIRDC to participate in the Education Action Day at the National Science and Technology Museum. The event focused on the latest developments in hydrogen technology and public education, with Alliance members including Liang Lian Industrial, Shou Rui Welding Materials, Bronkhorst, Tung Ho Steel, and JPE Yean Hern showcasing cross-industry integration of hydrogen technologies.

Event Highlights

The program included technical presentations, demonstrations, and interactive experiences, attracting both students and industry professionals. MIRDC Deputy Executive Director Wu Wei-Hong noted that under the MOEA’s Industrial Technology R&D Program, the center has concentrated on hydrogen storage and industrial combustion technologies to achieve real-world deployment. Examples include:

Variable Hydrogen Ratio Burner: Capable of adjusting hydrogen content according to industrial needs, applicable to boilers and high-temperature processes, enabling decarbonization.

High-Pressure Hydrogen Storage Technology: Incorporating anti-hydrogen embrittlement welding and permeation-resistant treatments to ensure stable and safe operation under high-pressure, high-temperature conditions.

These breakthroughs are not only accelerating industrial transformation but also transformed into interactive teaching tools within the NSTM, allowing students to experience hydrogen production and storage first-hand, fulfilling the mission of technology translation and science education.

Next Power Hydrogen Station Exhibition

Interactive Games at the NSTM Hydrogen Exhibition

JPE explored the Next Power Hydrogen Station exhibition, themed with blue, gray, green, and yellow as visual elements representing gaseous hydrogen, liquid hydrogen, sustainability, and electric energy. Accompanied by mascots such as H₂ Baby, the exhibition created Kaohsiung’s first dedicated hydrogen science learning venue.

The exhibition featured four major zones:

  • Power On: A 4-meter-tall H₂ Baby introduces hydrogen’s origins and future potential.

  • Feel the Power: Interactive experiments and simulations demonstrate hydrogen’s density, weight, combustibility, and heat value.

  • Power Lab: Explains multiple hydrogen production technologies (gray, blue, green hydrogen) as well as fuel cell and storage device applications.

  • Future Power: Engages visitors with questionnaires and videos to consider hydrogen’s role in future lifestyles.

Additional exhibits included hydrogen motorcycles, hydrogen fuel cell power generation systems, and 3D hybrid hydrogen boiler models, all showcasing hydrogen’s applications in transportation, energy, and industrial decarbonization.
